Windows Mobile Insider Preview gives you a quick look at Windows 10 for phones. If you're interested in getting the latest software updates for Windows Phone 8.1, use the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview.

Please download and install this preview only if the following conditions are met

Not going to install it on your main phone. If you have a backup phone, that would be a great candidate for the Insider Preview.
Would like to try out software that is still in development and would like to share views and opinions on the software.
Don't mind if there are a lot of updates or the UI design might change significantly after a while.
Really familiar with Windows Phone and happy to troubleshoot problems, back up data, or restore your original operating system if something goes wrong.

Things to Remember

Supported phones for Windows Mobile Insider Preview

We're working hard to make more Windows Phone models supported around the world. Download the Windows Membership app, and if your phone is supported, you'll be able to sign in with the same account you used to join the Windows Membership program. Windows Mobile Insider Preview is currently available for the following phones - as long as they have at least 8 GB of storage, Windows Phone 8.1 was installed on the phone at the time of purchase, and their build number is 8.10.14219.341 or earlier:

Some phones, regions and mobile carriers may not support Insider Preview. If your phone isn't listed and the preview version doesn't appear under "Sign Up" in the Windows Membership app, then your phone isn't supported (it may or may not be supported in the future).

What features are missing from the Insider Preview?

Messaging is currently missing some features you might use in Windows Phone 8.1, including dual SIM support, search, mail drafts, shared voice notes and ringtones, two-way language support, international auxiliary dialing, spam filter, view all grou Recipients, Reminders and Do Not Disturb Time for Cortana, Multiple Attachments and GSM Support. If you use these features frequently, you will need to wait for us to add these features to a future release before installing the preview.
For mobile phones, Cortana is only available in English (US). In other areas, you'll get the standard search experience.
The Room feature is not available in preview. You can still get your photo albums, calendars, and notes on the web or using other ap on your phone. You will not be able to see your chat history, or send or receive any new chats. If you have important information in your Room chats that you want to keep, save a copy of it to a different device before updating your phone to Insider Preview. Please see the Room FAQ for details.
Some text in the preview has not been translated into all available languages ​​and will therefore only be displayed in English. This text will be translated into all available languages ​​when the final product is released.
The phone app in preview does not offer dual SIM support or spam filtering.
Windows 10's accessibility features are still in development, and they're not fully functional yet in the Insider Preview. If you rely on features like Narrator while browsing the web, you may need to wait for your phone to update.
Internet sharing (or splicing) is available in Insider Preview, but "internet sharing must be turned off before shutdown". If you shut down or restart your phone before turning off Internet Sharing, Wi-Fi will no longer work. To restore your phone, download the WindowsPhone Recovery Tool on your computer, then connect your phone to the computer to restore to WindowsPhone 8.1. After the above ste are complete, please reinstall the Insider Preview.
